It has been over 40 years since there has been a British Saint canonised; it is also significant as Cardinal Newman will be “the first post-reformation British Saint.” John Henry Newman was made Saint by Pope Francis, along with four other Blesseds,on Sunday, 13 October in St Peter’s Square, Rome.

The Mass is the theme for this season's Reflection Evenings in St. Peter’s. The second reflection, led by Kitty McEachan, concentrates on the Liturgy of The Word - The Old Testament/Hebrew Scripture.

MISSIO SCOTLAND: The Pontifical Mission Societies Pope Francis has declared October 2019 as an ‘Extraordinary Mission Month’ during which we will pray and support those countries where the Church is poor and in need. He also urges all of us to recommit ourselves to sharing more fully in the mission of the Church to the world.
